Fun Fest 2010 Announces 30th Year Celebration
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Born in 1981, Fun Fest celebrates 30 years of family oriented summer fun under the leadership of 2010 Chairman, Stephen LaHair, owner and operator of local Kingsport restaurant Chef’s Pizzeria. Monty McLaurin, VP and CEO of Indian Path Medical Center, will be serving as Vice Chairman.
The Fun Fest Council is well underway with development and planning for its 30th year celebration which will kick off on Friday, July 16 and end on Saturday, July 24. Both LaHair and McLaurin have served as active and supportive community volunteers as well as Fun Fest event sponsors. In celebration of this milestone, the Kingsport Times-News and Fun Fest are pleased to announce an exciting partnership to develop a book which will chronicle the 30 years of Fun Fest memories and history. Photos will be collected from the public and more details will be available from the Kingsport Times-News later in the month.
Fun Fest’s continued success and popularity is contributed to the steadfast community spirit of its sponsors, dedication of its volunteers and rallied support of attendees. “As we enter into this 30th year, we gratefully acknowledge the unyielding community spirit of our sponsors,” said Stephen LaHair, Chairman of Fun Fest 2010. “Our sponsors truly understand the value of giving back to their community and because of this Fun Fest has thrived for 3 decades.” This year more than any other will provide area businesses sponsorship opportunities. In addition, Fun Fest will continue to provide businesses the ability to have their logo printed on the back of employee’s official Fun Fest t-shirts.
Since 2000, Fun Fest has been named a Top 20 July Tourism Event seven times by the Southeast Tourism Society. In addition, Fun Fest has received Kaleidoscope awards by Southeast Festivals and Events Association. Fun Fest continues to grow and is estimated to serve over 150,000 from 43 states and 100 Tennessee communities.
