Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium
Bays Mountain is one of the most beautiful parks in Tennessee. Featuring a 3,550-acre nature preserve, it is the largest city-owned park in the state.
The park features a picturesque 44-acres lake, a nature center, a state-of-the-art planetarium, an adventure ropes course with a 300-foot zip line, animal enclosures, herpetarium, Raptor Center, and Farmstead Museum. Bays Mountain also offers a wide variety of public programs throughout the year.
Bays Mountain, visited by tens of thousands of people each year, is home to various animals, featuring an outdoor wolf habitat, as well as free-roaming deer, bobcats, otters, and wild turkeys. The park also features a 44-acre lake, where visitors can enjoy barge rides and visit learning centers where nature lovers can see falcons, owls, snakes, and turtles, to name a few. Visitors can also 40 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, making for some great cross country snow skiing in the winter.
