Close your eyes and think back to when you were a kid. It’s summertime and the biggest decision you have to make is what flavor and toppings you want on your ice cream. Ice cream invokes nostalgia – whether it’s remembering what it felt like to hear the distant music of an ice cream truck or standing in line at your favorite shop at the beginning of the season – there’s nothing quite like that first bite of sweet, creamy goodness. In Kingsport, there’s no shortage of places to get your favorite scoop. That’s why we’ve put together a list of where you can visit to get your ice cream fix…and extra sprinkles!

  • George Creamery is Colonial Heights’ exclusive Blue Bell hand scooped ice cream shop. Their menu includes sundaes, milkshakes, banana splits, waffle bowls and more. A menu of rotating flavors and specials will keep you coming back for more. You can also enjoy outdoor patio seating for those warm spring and summer nights.

  • Urban Brews & Creamery offers fresh rolled ice cream made on the spot. Not only does this ice cream taste delicious, but you get to watch it come to life. The liquid ice cream base is poured onto a super-cold surface, scraped and rolled into thin sheets. Urban Brews & Creamery offers a variety of flavors, mix-ins and toppings to make their ice cream experience one you won’t forget.

  • The Golden Cone is Kingsport’s newest ice cream stop. Located inside Chef’s Pizzeria, they offer a variety of made from scratch flavors. There are 10 flavors to choose from, including Banana Pudding, Espresso, Caramel and Tucker Tracks (their spin on Moose Tracks). There are also rotating dairy-free options.  The Golden Cone didn’t forget your furry friends either, offering a pup cup that is paws-itively delicious!

  • Dip’s Ice Cream is a mobile trailer that sets up around the Tri-Cities. They offer a rotating menu of ice cream flavors like Cappuccino Crunch, Sugar Cookie, Cotton Candy and close to 30 others. Enjoy your ice cream in a bowl, cone, sundae or float. Add a brownie, cone nachos or a variety of other toppings for the ultimate dish.

  • Two Dads Downtown Deli & Ice Cream Parlor offers a full meal experience. Start with a salad, soup or a sandwich and end with a hot fudge cake, banana split, milkshake or cone. If you enjoy drinking your dessert, try a specialty float or coffee chiller (think milkshake but with espresso). Opt for a baby scoop or go all in with a triple scoop. Either way, your sweet tooth will thank you.

  • Fizzy Fairway brings together ice cream, craft sodas, arcade games and indoor mini golf. It’s your one-stop shop for family fun. There are 12 flavors of ice cream to choose from and weekly specials to give you the most bang for your buck. Sundays are “Sundae” giving you 25% off all sundaes. Stop by on Thursdays and receive 25% off all ice cream.

  • Sloopy’s Diner is a Kingsport fixture. Whether you want a burger or burrito or cheesecake and ice cream, you can have your cake and eat it too at Sloopy’s. Stop in for a scoop in a cone or cup, banana split, sundae, malt or hot fudge brownie. While you’re enjoying your sweet treat, grab a coloring sheet to decorate and you could see it hanging on the famous wall inside the diner.
