Ah, coffee. Just reading the word makes us think of that wonderful aroma, delightful taste and overall great feeling coffee provides.  In the wintertime, doesn’t the flavor seem even more intense, the coffee more comforting, and the caffeine jolt just a bit more powerful?

Fortunately, in Kingsport there are some great options when it comes to locally-owned coffeehouses. Each has their own distinct atmosphere and are known for certain specialties but all serve up delicious warm and cold beverages with an extra helping of top-notch customer service.

Here’s a coffee-lover cheat sheet to help you choose your daily brew:

Hibbert-Davis Urban Brews – Located on Broad St., Hibbert-Davis is an urban coffeehouse known for its organic coffees and tea. The ambiance creates the perfect setting to read, work or just take a break. The organic lavender latte, made from their own homegrown lavender, is one of a number of specialty drinks at Hibbert-Davis, which also offers a variety of green, black and fruity teas. They have a delicious menu, including homemade sandwiches, soups, and locally-made ice cream, and they bake their cinnamon rolls, scones, and danishes every morning!  A little birdie told us that several of the menu items are made with the same recipes as the former Downtown favorite- Kaffe Blue, so for those craving their iconic Greek pasta salad and chicken salad croissants, you are in luck.  (Open Monday-Saturday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.)

Neutral Grounds Coffeehouse – Located downtown on the corner of Broad Street and W Market Street, Neutral Grounds, has an impressive array of coffees and specialty drinks including caramel macchiato, chai lattes, and apple cider.  Recently renovated, this coffeehouse includes a stage for LIVE music and is the perfect place to relax. Offering an extensive menu featuring breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, Neutral Grounds provides appetite pleasers from homemade pastries to chicken pot pie and tomato basil soup.  Check their Facebook page for daily specials.  (Open Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-7 p.m.)

reNEWed Brew Coffee Company– Established in 2017, with a focus on community and bringing others together, Renewed Brew, located on Center Street, combines a warm atmosphere with made-to-order beverages using the freshest ingredients.  As a partner and affiliate of Renewed Church, their dedication to serve the community is evident by the rack of cold-weather gear just outside their door for those who may need an extra layer when the temperature drops.  Once you enjoy one of their medium or dark roasts with flavors inspired by Costa Rica, India, and Haiti coffees, you’ll feel, well…renewed!  To keep you coming back for more, this coffeehouse has a “stay grounded” reward program offering a “freebie” after 5 drinks are purchased.

(Open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.)
