Just Wingin’ It: A Guide to Kingsport’s Best Wings

A recent study claims that the average meat-eating American eats about 18,000 chicken wings in a lifetime. Sounds about right – especially if those Americans have tried the many delicious wing offerings in Kingsport.

Wings are so popular around here that the Spring WING Fling was created a few years ago to celebrate our love affair with them. Held on May 17 this year, wing aficionados will be able to try the tasty treats from 10 different Kingsport eateries, all of which have their own unique flavors.

Beef O’Brady’s, for example, has a variety of rubs and sauces and features Atomic, Nashville Hot, Boom Boom, and Kentucky Bourbon, among their 16 flavors. At Buffalo Wild Wings you’ll find 23 varieties of wings and flavors like Teriyaki, Jammin’ Jalapeno, Blazin’, and Desert Heat.

Center Street Grill sells their yummy wings by the pound or half-pound and features Spicy BBQ, BBQ, and plain wings, while East Coast Wings boasts 60 different flavors, like Coco Mango, Garlic Parmesan, Mardi Gras, and Mixed Berry, and seven heat indexes.

Longhorn features seasoned Steakhouse wings, as well as a spicy variety, while Main Street Pizza is known for its Curried Coconut, Root Beer BBQ, Sweet Sriracha Lime, and Honey Dijon wings.

MeadowView is known for its delicious Old Bay Wings, as well as the Buffalo variety, while one of the tastiest treats on Moe’s Original BBQ menu is their Smoked Wings.

Southern Craft produces a number of wing flavors, including Alabama White, Fire Apple Hot Sauce, Stoney Creek Original, and their famous House Dry Rub wings, while Woodstone Deli is known for both the scrumptious Ranch and Jumbo wings.

No doubt your stomach is rumbling and your mouth is watering right now with wings on the menu for your next meal. The best news though is that you can try wings from every one of the restaurants above in one place – at the 3rd Annual Spring WING Fling presented by Eastman Credit Union at the Kingsport Farmers Market from 5:30-8 p.m. May 17.

Tickets are just $10 in advance ($15 the day of the event) and to go along with the wing tastings there will be carrots, celery, ranch, and blue cheese. Beer, wine, and other food types will also be available but that’s not all… a free concert, featuring country music star Aaron Tippen, will cap the Spring WING Fling evening!

We can’t wait to be wingin’ it at the Fling and look forward to seeing you there!
