Pal’s is one of America’s leading quick-service restaurant chains. Pal’s originated in Downtown Kingsport in 1956 and that original location, one of only two of their walk-in counter locations, is still open today on Revere Street. Incredible food, lightning-fast service and the iconic look of their drive thrus make a visit to Pal’s a one-of-a-kind experience.
The story begins in the 1920’s in the midst of prohibition. Charles Bishop, aka “Old Man Bishop” is known for creating the original Long Island Iced Tea recipe while residing on Long Island in Kingsport, Tennessee. Packing quite the “punch”, the original recipe includes five liquors and maple syrup. In the 1940’S, Old Man Bishop’s son, Ransom Bishop tweaked the original recipe by adding lemon, lime and cola. This one-of-a-kind carousel was hand-carved by community volunteers. In 2022, the Kingsport Carousel was recognized by Reader’s Digest as one of the Nicest Places in America! Experience the magic of 32 rideable animals, two chariots for only $1 per ride. It’s a wonder to behold!
Tennessee’s first cidery, located right here in Kingsport, takes pride in using locally-sourced, fresh-pressed apples.
